Dear Close Comfort team

Hope everything is fine at your end.

I thought it might interest you to know that we’ve been using the Close Comfort AC for the last one week at home.

I haven’t slept so well in years. And the kids can’t get enough of it either. They love the tent and they find it ‘so comfortable’!

Hope all’s well in OZtralia.

Regards,

From: Jose Dial

Greetings Close Comfort Team

The new Close Comfort air conditioner you issued to me yesterday worked exceptionally well through the night. The cooling power of this small unit is fantastic!  During our workers’ meeting this morning I described this unit to them and many of them came to our house for a demonstration. They left very highly impressed with it.

I am very happy with the reduction of the electricity bill. I recently paid Rs. 1600/- for our electricity bill using Close Comfort compared to our neighbours with a normal AC who paid Rs. 26000/-.

The tips you gave me to further cool the tent really amplified the cooling last night and I am so happy.

I wish many people would know how this appliance can save them a lot on electricity bills. With many people buying this product, a lot of energy can be saved.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jose D. Dial, Executive Secretary, The Seventh-day Adventist Church of Pakistan, Lahore

Used it last summer season, only consumed 345 w / hr and used all night during hot nights. Was worth it and will use it again this summer.

Close Comfort AC is a product that dawns on you only after its gradual use. Like others when I received it, I complained about many things, from the product itself to the Advertisements on the close comfort website.

But its only after you use it for a couple of days, that you really appreciate the design. AC works great in the tent, but you will increase its usefulness if you bring a small fan inside. Initially I measured a difference of about 3 to 4 degrees from the feet to face (AC is located around the feet). However, that was only when I wasn’t properly adjusting the vent and AC height to the bed. If the AC is almost at the bed level the flow is even then difference isn’t much.

As for standalone operation, you’ll really need a hot weather like city of Lahore to feel its power. For a windy weather in Hyderabad, you won’t fully take benefit of it.

If there’s no wind in the room (coming through windows), you’ll notice after sitting in front of the AC for about half an hour that it actually cools you and you no longer feel the heat.

It’s better if you can understand the science behind how it works and how we humans feel the heat.

It’s no magical device, it’s a simple idea but cleverly executed. However, there’s always room for the improvement. Overall like a typical Pakistani I over reacted when I first got it. In the end it’s actually a very satisfying experience.

I have done a thorough research on this product after using it for 1 month. It’s actually very cheap in working terms plus the quality being delivered. It should not be mixed with the split AC or else you might not like it as the throw of it is not as strong but this is a 0.25 ton ac what do you expect. I have been using it in the tent for 1 month and my bill is very low. I must rate this 8/10. Though I would suggest this company to come up with a strong unit too.

Atif Naqvi 13 June 2016 – 3 stars

I use Close Comfort a week and find out, this is good personal AC, only need some modification (This is my personal Opinion), It need fan controller High and Low, the current speed is Low and make it more fast. It is very useful for one or two person (use tent). … It use 1 Unit of Electricity for using 3 hours operation. So the electric consumption is very low. I also add this is not fruitful for those cities where humidity is very low i.e. <25% and weather is hot, for those cities use desert cooler.

Attaullah Khizar 2 July 2016 – 4 stars

Being an honest speaker, I would like to rate it 4. Everything is good about this product but the only issue I felt is that you need to place it on something, basically it’s height is small. it’s a perfect one for a single person but not for two but again that’s mentioned that it’s for Personal usage. Rest all good, I’m satisfied with this purchase.

Muhammad Ali 12 July – 5 stars

My recommendation to the people willing to buy would be simple enough to understand that it’s not meant for the room. I’ve tried using it in 10 x 10 room and it’s pretty much useless so the point stays for personal cooling and that’s where it’s good at. Works perfectly well inside the tent.

Abdul Majid 20 June 2016 – 4 stars

It is a good thing to buy. It serves 2 persons well. Cooling is good. Useless without tent. Runs on good quality UPS. Portability is good for camping stuff. Only useful for sleeping or laying around because cooling only remains in the lower half of the tent. Main thing is, it costs nothing. People calling it waste of money have no sense (and need) to observe what the product is made for.

You will never worry about electric bills when using Close Comfort.

Using a normal air conditioner in Pakistan is extremely expensive because it provides cooling for the whole room. Expect to pay Rs.8000 – Rs.25,000 per month for night-time use. Learn why in Urdu – click here.

An inverter air conditioner will cost more to buy and the running cost will be about the same as a normal air conditioner except in certain special situations. Learn more in Urdu here.

You can feel just as comfortable with Close Comfort and you will only pay Rs.1500 a month to keep two people cool and comfortable every night. And your bill will be predictable.  No more scary surprises at the end of the month.

Close Comfort focuses cooling just where you need it most.  That’s how you can be more comfortable and never have to fear summer heat or electric bills ever again.

Close Comfort gives you other advantages:

  • Runs on a UPS and provides you with continuous uninterrupted sleep through load shedding.
  • Mosquito protection inside patented bed tent.
  • Portable and moves easily on wheels. You can use it anywhere, even outside.
  • No pipes, no installation and no water.
  • Health and well-being – you feel better in fresh air with open windows. A split air conditioner has to be used with the doors and windows closed and the air quickly becomes stuffy.

1. Turn off the ceiling fan.

2. Open the windows or door, except at the hottest time of day.

3. Set up your tent.

The tent amplifies the cooling and helps you sleep comfortably all night long.

Close Comfort runs on a UPS through load shedding so you sleep blissfully through load shedding on only Rs.5 an hour for electricity.

Sleep in fresh air with windows open, wake refreshed.

The tent opens and pops up by itself and takes only 2 – 3 minutes to set up and packs away when not needed.

It protects you and your loved ones from mosquitoes.

In cooler parts of Pakistan where indoor temperatures are less than 30°C, a mosquito net may be all you need.

1. Turn off the ceiling fan.

2. Open the windows or door, except at the hottest time of day.

3. Arrange Close Comfort so that the cool air flows around your face and neck.

If you are with friends, sit together and share the cooling from Close Comfort. Place Close Comfort no more than 1.5 metres away.

If the cool air is not aimed at your face, you will not feel as comfortable.

If the cool air is not aimed at your face, you will not feel as comfortable.

Place it on a table if needed. To prevent the air conditioner from rolling off table, place it on the styrofoam piece at the bottom of the packing carton.

Correct way to use Close Comfort: Cool air blowing towards your face and neck

Here are some tips on using Close Comfort to be as comfortable as possible in extremely hot weather.

  • Use Close Comfort at night with a tent to get uninterrupted deep sleep. It easier to face the heat during the day if you have slept well at night.
  • Cover the head end of the tent with a bed sheet, even a thin blanket. It will reduce the temperature inside the tent by a further 1°C.
  • Check the filters on your Close Comfort unit every 2 weeks to ensure there is no dust blocking the airflow.
  • Check that airflow is straight out of the deflector inside the tent. If the adapter fabric lies on top of the deflector, cool air can be flipped high into the tent, reducing cooling at the bottom of the tent where you sleep. As the photograph shows, place a small dry sponge on top of the deflector to keep the adapter fabric away from the tip.
  • Extreme heat almost always comes with reduced relative humidity, so you can use a water cooler to keep your bedroom cooler during the day. Doors and windows must be open for this to work (with security screens). You will feel the benefits of night as the walls of your room will be cooler.
  • Arrange for an air conditioner service technician to clean the insides of your Close Comfort thoroughly before the hot season starts if you have used it the previous season.

Other Tips

  • Drink lots of boiled water – it is simple and effective.
  • Expose yourself to heat during the day, preferably after work. 3 – 4 hours is enough to keep your body acclimatized to heat and then you will feel more comfortable all the time.

Invest in Close Comfort because you will never have to fear extreme summer heat again.

Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur,

From April to mid-June:

  • Daytime: Use Close Comfort whenever you are working or relaxing in one place.  An evaporative water cooler can also provide effective cooling for one or more rooms and is economic to run.  You can use both at the same time, provided the draft from the water cooler does not interfere with Close Comfort.  Keep doors and windows open (with security screens).
  • Sleeping: Use Close Comfort. A water cooler is less effective because the night time humidity is usually high.  Keep doors and windows open (with security screens).

From mid-June until September:

  • Daytime: Use Close Comfort. A water cooler provides little if any cooling when the humidity is high. Keep doors and windows open.
  • Sleeping. Use Close Comfort. Keep doors and windows open.

Use a Close Comfort air conditioner with our patented bed tent as a children’s playroom for daytime. They will stay in there all day long.

Use Close Comfort in the kitchen: install an exhaust fan to suck out the cooking fumes. When used in the kitchen, your Close Comfort air conditioner may need more regular cleaning.

At night use Close Comfort for 3 children or 2 adults sleeping in a Close Comfort patented bed tent. The tent will keep you and your children safe from mosquitoes, protecting you from dengue fever and other diseases.

For a family, you can use two or three Close Comfort units in separate rooms to provide privacy and still pay less for electricity than a single room air conditioner.

Enjoy freedom from the fear of summer heat and huge electric bills.

Continuous onshore breezes bring warm and humid sea air over the coast.

In the mountainous areas of Pakistan, summer brings surprising heat in the valleys. Electricity supplies can be extremely unreliable.

Use Close Comfort for those hot nights when you need air-conditioning. You may not need a tent – a mosquito net is sufficient if the evening temperature is below 30°C.

City Electricity Supply

In cities where load shedding is typically 8 hours or less, we recommend a 1000 Watt sine wave UPS.  Cheaper square wave UPS units will run Close Comfort with some additional noise but may shorten the life of the compressor.

Two 100 Amp-hour sealed lead-acid batteries will cost about Rs. 30,000 and last two years and require little maintenance. Gel batteries are more expensive than sealed lead-acid automotive batteries but last even longer.

If you use the cheapest automotive batteries, expect them to last only 8 months or less. Use two 120 Amp-hour batteries which will cost about Rs. 18,000.  Remember to top them up with distilled water regularly.

If you need to use more Close Comfort units, use a larger UPS and batteries.  Ask your UPS dealer for advice.

Rural Area Electricity Supply

Where you encounter more than 8 hours load shedding or long power interruptions, consider using a small generator and run up to 10 Close Comfort units on each generator, depending on the capacity.

A 7 kW generator will run up to 12 Close Comfort units with a steady running power of about 3.7 kW.  It is possible to run up to 25 Close Comfort units on this same generator, but if they are all started simultaneously, the generator will trip.

A typical household 2.5kW Generator can start and run a couple of Close Comfort units along with a few fans and lights.  You can run 4 Close Comfort units on this generator provided you switch them on one at a time, not all at the same instant.

Solar

Close Comfort can run on solar power as well.  During the daytime, each Close Comfort unit will require about 500 Watts capacity from your solar system, and enough battery capacity to provide starting current of 4 amps.  The running current is much less.

If you want to use solar power to run Close Comfort through the night, ask your solar dealer for a system that can store 5 kWh for each Close Comfort unit. Batteries will be the most expensive part of the cost, though the cost of batteries is steadily reducing each year.

When to use a normal air conditioner

If you are the kind of person that needs to feel cold in summer, use a normal air conditioner.  Close Comfort will not do that.  Make sure you can afford the running cost.  Click or tap here to learn why the running cost is so high.

Use a normal air conditioner in an office where there are more than 5 people working together all the time. If there are 4 people or fewer, or people are only their part of the time, consider using Close Comfort air conditioners with the windows open, or an exhaust fan. Do not use a ceiling fan with the air conditioner. In that way, the air conditioner helps to maintain a cooler air layer at the bottom of the room where people are. Also, it will be quieter and your papers will not be disturbed.

Social gatherings when you have more than 5 people or when people are moving around and do not remain in the same place. Avoid using the ceiling fan with the air conditioner: it helps to maintain a cool air layer at the bottom of the room and reduces the noise level.

Keep one or two Close Comfort units to use during load shedding if you do not have a generator.
